JOHOR BAHRU - Barisan Nasional incumbent candidate Datuk Mohd Jafni Bin Md Shukor successfully defended the Bukit Permai state seat after securing a commanding majority of 12,721 votes in a four-cornered contest that saw Perikatan Nasional (PN) slump to the bottom of the poll.
According to the official election results, Jafni garnered 21,870 votes to comfortably defeat his closest challenger, Mohamad Shafwan Ani of Pakatan Harapan, who obtained 9,149 votes.
In a surprising turn at the bottom of the ballot, Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) candidate Aidil Riduan finished ahead of the major coalition candidate by securing 792 votes.
PN candidate M. Lina Manoh took the final spot after getting only 741 votes.
