
JOHOR BAHRU - Pakatan Harapan (PH)'s Nazri Abd Rahman successfully defended the Simpang Jeram state seat in a fiercely contested four-cornered fight, securing a narrow victory with a slim majority of just 170 votes.
According to the official election results, Nazri garnered 12,022 votes to edge out his closest rival, Azman Ismail from Barisan Nasional (BN), who mounted a formidable challenge to secure 11,852 votes.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Arsyed Yahya @ Awang finished third with 3,962 votes, while Malaysian Democratic Alliance Party (Muda) candidate Ainie Haziqah Shafii took the final spot after capturing 1,467 votes.
The highly anticipated multi-cornered clash saw a total of 29,303 valid votes cast from an electorate of 41,975 registered voters in the constituency.
The razor-thin margin highlights the intense competition in the state constituency, which ultimately saw PH retaining its hold on the seat.
