MANILA, Philippines — TNT hammered an undermanned Terrafirma side, 101-89 to get back on the winning track on Saturday in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Bol Bol delivered 35 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots, while Calvin Oftana had 20 and 12, lacing his performance with three triples to lead TNT to its third win in five starts. The Tropang 5G redeemed themselves following their 110-106 loss to the Meralco Bolts.
The Dyip continued to free-fall with their third straight loss after a 3-0 conference start. Hastening the Dip’s loss was the absence of veteran guard Maverick Ahanmisi and Paolo Hernandez, two of the team’s most consistent players this conference.
Ahanmisi is out due to a sprained ankle, while Hernandez has hamstring injury.
The Tropang 5G led by as many as 22 points and dictated the tempo against the Dyip, who had 16 turnovers in the match.
Terrafirma import Ali Mubashar scored 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, while Jerrick Ahanmis added 20, seven boards and six assists.
Mubashar shot just 8-of-26 overall, Ahanmisi only went 5-of-20 as the two were stymied by TNT’s defense.
