MANILA, Philippines — It was going five until Sam Cantada happened.

The super rookie fueled NU's late run as the Lady Bulldogs finished off the UST Golden Tigresses in four, 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24, to start their title defense at the UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball campaign at the Mall of Asia Arena Sunday.

Cantanda scored four including three aces in NU's 7-1 finishing kick that turned a 19-23 deficit in the fourth frame into a win.

Cantanda finished with 21 points on top of 14 excellent receptions and five digs.

Angge Poyos racked up 18 points and 10 receptions to pace the Tigresses.
