Converge pounds Blackwater, ends Commissioner's Cup on high note

MANILA, Philippines — Converge poured everything it goes in the second half to pull away and beat Blackwater, 136-122 to close its rather disappointing PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup campaign on a winning note on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Leaning on defense that forced the Bossing to 22 turnovers which they translated to a 23-6 advantage, the FiberXers pulled away in the second half with their 77-point explosion, thanks to seven players who scored in double figures.

Rookie Juan Gomez De Liano led Converge 25 points while Justine Baltazar added 17 and 11 boards.

Calvin Abueva had 15, while four others scored at least 12 for the FiberXers who closed the conference at 5-7.

Robert Upshaw led the Bossing with 45 points and 18 rebounds, Sedrick Barefield had 20, while Abu Tratter 13.

Blackwater ended its conference campaign at 2-10, the same losing record as Titan Ultra.
