
MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer’s strong fourth quarter surge led the Beermen to a 116-104 win against Phoenix to close the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup elimination round on a strong note on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Bennie Boatwright delivered 34 points, spiking his fine offense with five triples, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Jericho Cruz added 20, Don Trollano 14, while CJ Perez had 12 for the Beermen who finished the elims with a 7-5 record and ensuring they won’t enter the playoffs as the eighth seed.
SMB’s playoff seeding will be determined after Sunday’s last two games to close the elims at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Johnathan Williams scored 26 points and 13 rebounds, Ken Tuffin had 18, while Bryan Santos 17 for Phoenix, which ended the elimination with a 6-6 record. RICHARD DY
