MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer’s firepower proved too much as it overpowered Terrafirma, 126-110 to complete the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup playoff cast on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Bennie Boatwright rediscovered his shooting touch as he torched the Dyip with 33 points, lacing his solid scoring night with five triples, to go along with 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Beermen forged a four-way tie with Magnolia, Phoenix and defending champion TNT at 6-5.
The final placing for the playoffs will be finalized during the last two playdates of the elimination round.
Boatwright was coming off a lackluster 16-point effort in SMB's win over Meralco.
As for Terrafirma, the loss ousted the team, which has lost seven of its last eight games since opening the conference with three straight wins.
June Mar Fajardo also had a big scoring effort, finishing with 30 points and grabbing 14 rebounds as he dominated the paint.
Don Trollano and Jericho Cruz each scored 17, while CJ Perez added 15 in a balanced scoring attack.
Ali Mubashar led the Dyip with 28 points, while top rookie pick Geo Chiu managed to hold his own in his first PBA match up with Fajardo, registering a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds.
