
A disciplined routine with day-long time-table and conviction for studies helped Deepika, a girl from Khera village of Siwani subdivision in Bhiwani district, who topped the Class 10 examination, conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) Bhiwani.
Deepika secured 499 marks out of total 500 marks. The Board announced the results of the matriculation (Academic/Open School) annual examination 2026 with overall pass percentage 89.60 per cent for regular students while private candidates recorded a pass percentage of 70.02 per cent.
While Deepika, a student of Ararsh Senior Secondary School in Miran village was declared topper, four other students jointly secured second position by getting 498 marks.
The third position was jointly held by 11 students, who scored 497 marks. Deepika’s younger sister Ritika, who was in the same class too has excelled by scoring 487 marks.
Her father Raj Kumar told The Tribune that he is proud of both his daughters. “I was expecting Deepika to top the examination. In fact, I told her to rehearse for interviews to the media, when I saw her namesake Deepika from Rewari who topped the 10+2 examination two days ago,” he said.
A father of four daughters, works as a van driver in the same school and also doubles up as a painter to supplement earnings.
Deepika said she followed a disciplined time table and was thankful for the teachers who were always forthcoming to clear her doubts in the studies. “My mother never asked me to do any household chores. I concentrated on my studies and got full cooperation from the family and school teachers,” she said.
Deepika also said she wanted to pursue engineering and wanted to become a computer engineer. School principal Surender Singh said Deepika has always been a hardworking, disciplined and focused student. He said her dedication towards studies was commendable from the beginning and that she remained completely focused on her academic goals.
Government schools pass percentage has been recorded at 87.23 per cent while private schools pass percentage 92.45 per cent. With success percentage of 90.25 per cent, rural students also performed better than urban students 87.94 per cent.
