
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala reset her WTA live rankings career-high from No. 25 on Saturday to No. 24 after reaching the 500 Mubadala D.C. Open final in Washington early Sunday in Manila.
Ousting 4-time Grand Slam champ Naomi Osaka in the semifinal, Eala raised her total to 1,931 ranking points.
Eala could reach as high as world No. 20 if she wins the D.C. tournament, as the live rankings state she could earn a total of 2,106 points.
No. 28 in the official rankings, Eala faces American world No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the final.
