
KINABATANGAN: An office building at Estate Leepang 2, Kinabatangan, was 90 per cent destroyed in a fire early Monday.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station Chief PPgB Suriyadi bin Drawis said the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call throughNG999 at 5.17am before a team from the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station proceeded to the scene, located 140km from the station.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 9.18am and found the fire involving a permanent office building.
Firefighting operations were carried out using one hose line, while overhaul operations continued to ensure there was no risk of re-ignition.
“No casualties were reported in the incident,” he said.
The operation involved six personnel from the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station, comprising four personnel with the CFRT-1 fire appliance and two personnel with the VIGO-1.
Suriyadi added that communication at the scene was limited due to the lack of GIRN and telephone coverage.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
