(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather welcomes the Chinese New Year on Tuesday in most parts of the archipelago except for isolated downpours in late afternoon and evening, the state-run weather agency said.
Also, weather specialist Veronica Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it has not monitored any tropical cyclone inside or outside in the country’s area of responsibility in the coming days.
“We see no cloud clusters or formations which mean there would be fair weather conditions in most areas in the country at least within the 24-hour period,” Torres said during a 5 a.m. briefing.
The northeast monsoon or "amihan" – cool and dry winds – has been affecting only the provinces of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Ilocos Region where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains would prevail, according to the national weather bureau.
The other weather system, the easterlies – winds that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather – would be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of the country where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be likely, it added.
