
LAHAD DATU: Fire destroyed a house at Kampung Air, Jalan Segama, here, on Tuesday.
The State Fire and Rescue department received a distress call following the fire incident at 7.03pm via MERS999.
A team of 17 firefighters was deployed to the scene in five machineries including EMRS vehicle and a Four Wheel Drive (4WD).
Upon arrival, the team reported that the fire involved a house measuring 15X10 feet. The team carried out the operation to extinguish the fire using the offensive and defensive methods with a 700 feet stream and four sprouts. The fire was put under control at 7.38pm.
The house was 100 per cent destroyed in fire, however, no casualty reported in the incident.
The team called off the operation at 9pm after ensuring there was no other danger at the scene.
In Kunak, a wooden house, a car and two motorcycles were destroyed in a fire at Jalan Pangi near Pantai Sarina here on Tuesday evening.
District Fire and Rescue chief Mohamad Omarbatha said they received a distress call at 6.47pm and arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later.
“A team of 15 firefighters, with support vehicles including FRT, EMRS and an Urvan, rushed to the site located 8km from the station.
“The blaze quickly engulfed the 30ft by 30ft wooden house, and also consumed a Hyundai car and two motorcycles before firefighters managed to contain it by 7.10pm,” he said.
No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire, as well as the estimated losses, are still under investigation.
Civil Defence Force (APM) and police were also on site to maintain order.
