LAHAD DATU: A foreign man was arrested for allegedly damaging a woman’s car at a parking lot along Jalan Singgamata, Tuesday morning.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the 26-year-old suspect is accused of hurling stones at a Toyota Vios belonging to a 27-year-old woman, causing the windshield to shatter and damaging the vehicle’s front hood.
The incident occurred at approximately 9.43am.
Following a report, officers from the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Division tracked down and detained the suspect at a rented room in the town area.
Dzulbaharin said a remand application would be made at the Lahad Datu Court to facilitate further investigation.
“Police take such incidents seriously as they may disrupt public order and cause concern among the community,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage.
