TAWAU: A man suspected of kicking his ex-wife in the abdomen and punching her head, causing injuries, was arrested during Op Cantas Mega here on Friday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 37-year-old suspect was detained following public information.

“The suspect, who is the victim’s ex-husband, is believed to have committed the act around 8pm when he visited her house in Balung,” he said.

The suspect’s aggressive attack on his ex-wife caused the woman to sustain injuries.

“Following the incident, the suspect was detained to facilitate investigations,” he said.

If found guilty, the court may impose a jail term of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000 or both on the accused.
