
RANAU: A homestay in Kundasang was damaged due to a landslide that occurred near here, Thursday, highlighting the risk posed by uncontrolled development of such facilities, especially near hilly areas.
Head of Ranau Fire and Rescue Station, PPgB Ridwan bin Mohd Taib, said the incident happened at Syameen’s Homestay Kundasang, here, at about 5.30pm.

“We received a call at 5.32pm about the incident and rushed three personnel led by Operation Commander, PBK I KUP Becket Gumat, along with a FRV engine. Also included in the operation were personnel from APM.

“Fortunately, no victims were reported in the incident. The fire brigade advised the residents in the vicinity to move to a safer place,” he said.

He urged the villagers to remain vigilant.
