MANILA, Philippines — Many areas in Luzon have been soaked by intense rain from the southwest monsoon. After a week of downpours, there appears to be no respite as the weather bureau forecast intense to torrential rain in several provinces.
On Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Benguet will be drenched by more than 200 millimeters of rain, classified as torrential.
Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro will get 100 to 200 mm of rainfall, described as heavy to intense.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Pangasinan, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna and Oriental Mindoro will have 50 to 100 mm, considered moderate to heavy.
Scattered rains and thunderstorms were forecast in Western Visayas, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Calabarzon, the rest of Mimaropa, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
