Defending champion University of Perpetual Help System Dalta defeated Jose Rizal University, 18-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-19, in the quarterfinal round of NCAA Season 101 boys volleyball tournament at the Arellano University gym in Pasay City on Monday.
Five Perpetual Help players registered double digits in scoring led by team captain Gabiel Macatuno, who netted 18 points on 15 attacks and 3 blocks. Darly Torio added 15 points on 11 attacks and 4 aces while Limuel Valderama chipped in 14 points on 7 attacks and 7 blocks.
John Lat and Cholo Bustamante finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
The Las Pinas-based team of coach Sandy Rieta will meet Mapua University in the best-of-three semifinals starting on Thursday.
Mapua defeated Lyceum of the Philippines Univerisity, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22 in the quarterfinal round.
The other semifinals duel is between Letran and Arellano.
In the quarterfinals, Letran won over San Sebastian College, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20, while Arellano beat Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-13, 25-20, 25-19.
In girls volleyball, the Season 101 championship will be disputed by University of Perpetual Help and defending champion Arellano University.
