THE NU Lady Bulldogs added to the Ateneo Blue Eagles' woes and claimed their second straight win, 25-18, 25-18, 25-15, in the UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
Vange Alinsug fired 18 points on 14 attacks, three blocks, and one ace for NU, which improved to 5-1 for second place behind the 5-0 De La Salle Lady Spikers.
Alinsug also logged seven excellent digs and two receptions to her name, as the Lady Bulldogs get a new win run going after falling to the UP Fighting Maroons on Feb. 28.
NU previously defeated the UE Lady Warriors on March 4.
"We just have to work, that's it," said Lady Bulldogs head coach Regine Diego.
"We're doing our best every game and we're happy that everybody can play well (whenever given a chance)."
Arah Panique aided Alinsug with 10 points while prized rookie Sam Cantanda scored six points in her return including the clincher.
Cantanda, who also logged seven receptions, didn't play against UE last timeout to rest the shin injury she sustained against UP.
Celine Marsh contributed six points and eight receptions for NU which closes its first round campaign against La Salle on March 15.
Ana Hermosura racked up seven points and eight receptions to pace Ateneo which dropped to 0-6, tied with UE at the bottom of the 8-team league.
Dona De Leon punched in seven points while J.Lo Delos Santos and Zey Pacia chipped in five.
The Blue Eagles look to finally claim their first win of the season as they clash against fellow winless Lady Warriors on March 14.
