MANILA, Philippines — Macau ended its winless start after dumping Titan Ultra, 119-107 in their PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup win on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Riding on a solid second quarter offense behind their seven triples, the Black Knights turned the tables against the Giant Risers via a 41-16 exchange.
That second quarter blitz was all the foreign squad needed to take control of the game and eventually, seal its first win after a 0-7 start.
At 1-7, Macau’s chances of making the top 8 is slim, but the win still gave the foreign squad something to celebrate after a frustrating start for the mid-season conference.
Jenning Leung led the Black Knights with 32 points, highlighting his blazing offense with seven triples.
Damian Chongqui also came up with a near double-double, scoring 23 points and issuing nine assists for Macau while import Tony Mitchell and Philip Shackelford registered identical 18 makers and 14 boards apiece.
Fran Yu scored a career-high 35 points, grabbed five rebounds and issued five assists in a losing effort for Titan Ultra, which dropped its third straight game and fell into a tie for 10th to 11th spots with Converge at 2-6.
Jerick Balanza added 20, while Joshua Munzon 12, while import Earl Gilmore only had 11 points on 4-of-17 shooting. The American import added nine rebounds and four assists. RICHARD DY
