Manila suspends classes on Thursday due to Habagat

MANILA, Philippines — Classes at all levels in public and private schools in Manila have been suspended on Thursday, August 6, as heavy rains are expected due to the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).

Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso announced the suspension through an advisory issued on Wednesday after the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD) recommended the measure.

The advisory said that the latest weather models and rainfall outlook from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicate that Manila may experience significant rainfall on Thursday, ranging from light to moderate and, at times heavy.

Schools have also been instructed to shift to the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM). DAN MADRAZO
