TAMBUNAN: An elderly woman in Kampung Mangkatai has lost months’ worth of accumulated rubber latex after it was allegedly stolen.
The incident was discovered Wednesday morning according to a social media post by her child.
The family member said the issue was not merely about the monetary value of the stolen rubber but the time and effort she had spent collecting it.
The post appealed to the alleged perpetrator to respect other people’s property and earn a living honestly rather than taking the fruits of someone else’s labour.
The family also urged residents of Kampung Mangkatai and surrounding areas to remain vigilant and remind their children and relatives not to engage in theft.
It said agricultural produce in rural areas could be vulnerable to theft because some farms were located far from regular supervision.
The family called for greater cooperation among villagers, local authorities and the village security committee to safeguard residents’ property and prevent similar incidents.
