More OFWs arrive in PH from Riyadh

MANILA, Philippines — At least 99 Filipino workers from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday following attacks allegedly by Houthis on King Khalid International Airport.

Fifty OFWs arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at 8 a.m. aboard Qatar Airways Flight QR934, said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Accompanied by OWWA welfare officers, the new arrivals were transported to Al Qassim from Riyadh for their flight to Manila.

They were met by OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne "PY" Caunan with OWWA's Repatriation and Assistance Division (RAD) "to check on them and ensure that their needs are immediately taken care of," the OWWA said in Filipino.

Fifteen OFWs from Bahay Kalinga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia also arrived on Tuesday at NAIA Terminal 3. They were transported by land to Dammam from Riyadh to board Gulf Air Flight GF154 bound for Manila. An OWWA welfare officer and other personnel of OWWA Riyadh, who assisted and helped with their travel until they boarded their flight home, accompanied them in the land travel.

OWWA said that 50 more OFWs were set to arrive in the Philippines tonight at about 10 p.m.

It said that 249 other OFWs were set to arrive in the Philippines from Oct. 21 to Oct. 26.
