The closing ceremony on Sunday is expected to be officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin.
Ramjit called on the public to come and give their support to the competition held for the first time in the interior.
“It is time of the year again to run, jump, walk and throw. I hope the public will come to cheer, support and be inspired by these athletes.
“Some of them are well into their nineties and prove that age is no barrier for them to pursue new challenges and excel.”
He added that as the State’s umbrella body for masters athletes, Samas will continue to provide the platform, opportunity and support for its athletes to compete in high level competitions.
According to him, their athletes had performed well for the country at the Thailand Masters Open Athletics, World Masters Indoor Athletics in Torun, Poland, Asia Pacific Masters Games in South Korea, Johore-Singapore International Masters Athletics and Malaysia International Open Masters Athletics.
Their next target is the Asia Masters Athletics Championship to be held on November 8-12 at New Clarke City, Philippines.
Meanwhile, Ramjit expressed his gratitude on behalf of the organising committee to the Youth and Sports Ministry, Sabah Sports Council and Sabah Sports Board for their support.
