Kajang is poised to be one of the new growth areas in the next 5 years. More so for tourism soon to be boosted by new VVIPs in residence at Kajang prison which may yet become an added attraction in itself for the town besides merely subsisting on satay.

Reports say that this once sleepy hollow is expected to grow rapidly as a result of becoming a terminal station of the Sungai Buluh-Kajang MRT line.
Who would have thought that this mega transportation project developed during Najib's time would be hosting Najib himself at a prison on either end of the line?
He was expected to be placed in Sungai Buluh prison but ended up on the Kajang side. Words have it that he might eventually be moved later to Sungai Buluh prison.
But for now, he is an added feature of Kajang's latest tourist attraction.

However, before Najib came on the scene, Kajang's best attraction is its satay. It is famous for a variety of satay outlets that goes back years.
One of the best-known early pioneers in this town is Haji Samuri who not only owns his original satay stall at Kajang Medan Satay but has 19 other shops in major townships and highway R&R all over Selangor with an outlet in Port Dickson as the one and only station in Negeri Sembilan.
So, What is so special about Satay Kajang? Kajang satay is chunkier than any ordinary satay you'll find elsewhere in the country; that's the uniqueness of the type found here.
Almost all vendors at Kajang offer lean meat with proportionately less fat than satay found elsewhere without sacrificing taste and quality.
Thus, if it is not chunky and lean it's not Kajang satay. You'll find chunky lean sticks of goat, rabbit, tripe, beef and chicken. Sometimes you might get fish satay too if you are lucky. They are well marinated in herbs and spices grilled to perfection and served with peanut sauce, rice cakes, cucumber and fresh onions.
The Kajang peanut sauce used as dips for satay is different too. The peanut sauce of Kajang is thicker and full of chunky peanuts that bind well with the grilled meats.
All Kajang satay lovers know full well that you would have to add chilli oil to the peanut sauce to make it more flavourful, giving you that extra kick that is found to be addictive for some, many of whom keep coming back for more. The MRT brings them by train loads over the weekends.
In fact, many satay operators here agree that the MRT that Najib built has boosted sales since the trains started operating in recent years. Traders are confident that business will boom again this year (2022) now that the covid19 pandemic is over.
In fact, if the satay operators were enterprising enough they could start incorporating Najib and other VVIPs who might soon follow in his footsteps to Kajang prison into their satay offerings.
Kajang municipality may do likewise to promote Kajang prison as a tourist attraction itself. It might help boost the economy of this once sleepy hollow.
