Malaysians looking for competitive overseas airfares can find round-trip options from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) for regional destinations. Prices vary by season, but low-cost carriers and regional airlines consistently offer budget-friendly routes to popular nearby countries. Round-trip flights from KUL to London, Paris (CDG) and mainland Europe start as low as MYR2,322 to MRY2,342 during the value season in September or October. Better option is connecting flights via Middle Eastern hubs offer the most competitive rates, undercutting direct options to roughly MYR1,700 to MYR2,100.
However, the challenge of overseas travel on low cost carrier (LCC) during holiday season is flights can get cancelled. My family of four people have paid in full flight to Europe in November via LCC. It has cancelled its anticipated return to London Gatwick (LGW) and indefinitely postponed its Europe flight until at least March 2027. The LCC was scheduled to begin its KUL to LGW via Bahrain route on 27 August 2026, but removed the flights entirely from its booking systems due to prolong geopolitical instability & airspace closures in West Asia. I am now looking for alternative options.
