Adrian Nocum knocked down what proved to be the game-winning shot with 5.6 seconds left to lift Rain or Shine to a pulsating 98-97 win against Magnolia in their PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Nocum finished with a career-high 31 points as he steered Rain or Shine to its third straight win since opening the conference at 0-2.
Nocum sealed his heroics by pulling down the crucial defensive rebound as Magnolia import KJ Buffen failed to score on his attempt to steal the win in the dying seconds.
Vincent Cuajao added 15 while import Aaron Fuller had a rough scoring night, finishing with just 14 points on a 5-of-19 field goal shooting. The left-handed Rain or Shine import, however, managed to grab 12 rebounds.
Buffen led Magnolia with 31 points. The Hotshots dropped to 1-3.
In the second game, Ginebra dealt Meralco a 94-85 beating to improve to 2-2.
