THE country's top women's doubles pair, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah, were crowned the Indonesian Masters champions after the Japanese pair, Arisa Igarashi-Miyu Takahashi, withdrew from the final at Istora Senayan, a short while ago.
The uncontested victory allowed the national pair to claim their first title of the season.
So far, the organisers have not released any further details on the reason why the Japanese decided to withdraw from the final clash of the Super 500 tournament.
This success in Jakarta will certainly be a solace for Pearly and Thinaah after a rather slow start to the season.
Earlier, they were eliminated in the second round of the Malaysian Open at home before recovering and showing improvement by advancing to the semi-finals of the Indian Open last week.
This success places them as the second women's doubles team from the country to win the Indonesian Masters, repeating the achievement achieved by Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei in the 2011 edition. – January 25, 2026
