SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek won the N.14 Ampangan state seat in the 16th Negeri Sembilan election, polling 9,934 votes to secure a majority of 3,969.
He defeated Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Nazri Kassim, who garnered 5,965 votes, while Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) Azzah Harun, trailed with 267 votes.
The result marks a PN gain from PH, which had held Ampangan by a slim 329-vote majority since 2023.
Mohamad Rafie previously represented the seat under PH's banner in 2018 before contesting as an independent in 2023, and now returns to the assembly on a PN ticket.
Voting for the Negeri Sembilan state election was held on 1 August 2026 across all 36 seats, as Pakatan Harapan sought to defend its two-thirds majority against challenges from Barisan Nasional and PN.
