Perpetual Help takes 1-0 lead in NCAA girls volleyball finals

Sherrie Rose Acosta and Elizha Sildo scored 14 points apiece to lead University of Perpetual Help System Dalta to a convincing 25-19, 25-11, 25-23 victory over defending champion Arellano University in Game 1 of the NCAA Season 101 girls volleyball finals at the Arellano University Gym in Pasay City on Thursday. 

Aside from scoring on 12 attacks, a block and an ace, Acosta also registered 8 excellent receptions while Sildo, a native of Imus City, also has 3 digs and 2 receptions.

Middle blocker Ramiel Panganiban added 12 points from 9 attacks and 3 blocks  for the Junior Lady Altas.

Libero Janine Espiritu finished with 15 digs and 8 receptions for the Sandy Rieta-coached team.

Arellano, on the other hand, was led by Catherine Chu who netted 16 points, all on attacks. 

Game 2 of the best-of-three finals will be on Monday at 8 a.m.
