Perpetual Help men’s and juniors teams retain NCAA soft tennis crowns

The men’s and juniors teams of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta captured back-to-back titles in the NCAA soft tennis tournament which culminated on Tuesday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Court in Malate, Manila.

 

The Altas men’s soft tennis team, led by the Nuguit brothers Sherwin, Potpot and Samuel, defeated College of St. Benilde in the finals, 3-0.

Samuel Reane Nuguit was named Most Valuable Player and  Sherwin Nuguit won as Freshman and Rookie of the Year in the men’s division.

Altas coach Sammy Nuguit, meanwhile, bagged the Coach of the Year plum.

The Junior Altas, on the other hand, topped the double round elims to be crowned champions in the high school division once again.

Gibson Nochefranca of Perpetual Help won MVP honors while Vanzidrick Rosalinda of San Beda bagged the Freshman and Rookie of the Year award.

In the women’s division, College of St. Benilde bagged its second straight crown after defeating the Lady Altas in the finals, 2-1.

Kiana De Asis of St. Benilde captured the MVP plum and Airies Tanawan of Perpetual Help went home with the top rookie award.

Present at the awarding rites were NCAA Management Committee representatives Frank Gusi of Perpetual Help and  Melchor Divina of Mapua.
