MANILA, Philippines — The PLDT High Speed Hitters are one win away from securing a qualifying slot after a straight-set win over the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17, in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Currently tallying a 6-1 win-loss card, if PLDT wins its game against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, the Rald Ricafort-mentored squad will have an easy pathway to the semifinals.
The top team will face the top four in the qualifying round, and the winner will earn a direct berth to the semifinals.
If a team loses in the qualifying round, they will be relegated to the play-in finals, where they will face the winners of the lower bracket.
Knowing the luxury of earning a qualifying round ticket, Ricafort shared that the team approached the match against Galeries with discipline.
“Before the game, my reminder is to give Galeries the respect since their lineup is very capable. We saw how Galeries pulled an upset against other teams,” he said during the post-game presser.
“We don’t need to impose the thought of doing something extra special, but just have that discipline,” he added.
Savi Davison led the scoring for PLDT once more after chipping in a game-high of 21 points, along with seven excellent receptions, while Mika Reyes added 10 markers.
Kim Fajardo made 15 excellent sets in a straight-set win and added three points.
The High Speed Hitters showed their strength in the service line after tallying six aces, while the Highrisers only made one.
Galeries had no double-digit scorers in the match, with Jean Asis scoring nine points.
The Highrisers suffered their third consecutive defeat and hold a 2-5 record.
