THE Choco Mucho Flying Titans and the PLDT High Speed Hitters aim to extend their winning sprees when they face separate foes in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Choco Mucho (3-3) will bank on the duo of Eya Laure and Sisi Rondina when it faces the Trisha Tubu and Royse Tubino-led Farm Fresh (2-4) side at 6:30 p.m.
The Flying Titans survived the title-contender Nxled Chameleons in four sets on March 3, with Rondina tallying a double-double performance of 24 points and 20 excellent receptions.
Despite coming off the bench, Laure went fiery late in the fourth frame and finished with 13 points to avoid a decider against the Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips-led Chameleons.
Head coach Dante Alinsunurin is glad to see the Flying Titans bounce back from two consecutive defeats, working on their team chemistry.
“Right now, of course, there are still some minor [adjustments to work out], but like I said, this conference is long. It gives us enough time to see what else we need to work on and how we can truly achieve our goals as a team and contribute more,” he said.
“I just really hope we treat every game as a lesson and keep pushing ourselves in training so that by the next game, we’ve improved even further,” he added.
However, Choco Mucho needs to brace for the Farm Fresh squad, which is eyeing to snap its two-game skid.
Led by Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara, the Foxies posted a challenge against the tough PLDT side after a marathon-like five-setter clash.
Tubino led the scoring for the team with 17 points, while Tubu added 16 markers—but it was not enough to overcome the high-scoring digits of Savi Davison, who made 32 points along with 12 excellent digs and 13 excellent receptions.
If Farm Fresh wants to finally snap its two-game dry spell, they need to contain the Rondina and Laure tandem of Choco Mucho.
At 4 p.m., PLDT (5-1) aims to inch closer to securing a Top 4 slot when it faces the Galeries Tower Highrisers (2-4).
