Kota Kinabalu: A 40-year-old Thai woman was fined RM3,500 or eight months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for soliciting prostitution last year.

Chuaeasatum Wanlaya pleaded guilty before Marilyn Kelvin to offering to provide sexual services to a 29-year-old man on Nov 14, 2024, at 9.13pm, at a massage parlour in the city.

Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});The charge, under Section 372B of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine, or both, on conviction.

The facts of the case presented by the prosecution stated that on the said day a police team raided the premises and found both Chuaeasatum and a male customer naked in one of the rooms.

Lim added that she is a single mother of one child and also taking care of her ageing father and applied for her not to be referred to the Immigration Department as her passport is still valid.
