Royal Sabah Turf Club Chairman’s horse wins Kota Kinabalu Classic Cup

Kota Kinabalu: Tanjong Rambutan, a horse belonging to The Royal Sabah Turf Club (RSTC) Chairman Datuk Peter Chin, won the Kota Kinabalu Classic Cup race held at the Tuaran Tambalang Race course, taking the prize money of RM15,800.

His wife Datin Chin received the victor’s trophy.

Tanjong Rambutan’s jockey Fazli D. took home RM1,600 and a trophy for steering home his No. 5 horse within a time of 1 minute 53.47 seconds, followed by horse No. 11 ‘Land Below D’Wind’ winning RM6,200 for second placing and horse No. 1 ‘Blarney Blink’ winning RM3,100 in third placing.

The Kota Kinabalu Classic Cup race, a 1,800m race on turf track, was the main highlight event on Sunday, participated by 12 horses (one horse was scratched), besides the four other races taking place on the day.

Chin said the last KK Classic race was before the global Covid-19 pandemic on Sept 8, 2019 which was won by Brilliant One. However, on Sunday, Brilliant One only managed to be placed in 6th place finishing among 12 horses. The other mentioned favourite of pundits – horse No. 8 Super Come finished in 8th placing while horse No. 2 Kimberly Pride finished in 4th placing.

The numbering of the horses was determined by their weight with the heaviest horse accorded the first number (No.1).
