Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd (SPSB) has announced the appointment of Ts. Jason Jouti (pic) as General Manager of Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, marking a new chapter in the company’s continued development as a key enabler of Sabah’s trade, connectivity and economic growth.
Jason brings more than two decades of professional experience, including extensive experience in the port industry.
He joined Sabah Ports in March 2012 and has since served the company in various leadership capacities, with significant involvement in port infrastructure, engineering, asset and maintenance management, major projects and the development of port facilities across Sabah.
A civil engineer by training, Jason holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Universiti Malaya and a Master of Science in Asset Management and Maintenance from Universiti Teknologi Petronas. He is also a registered Professional Technologist specialising in Marine Technology.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Acting General Manager of SPSB, where he was closely involved in the company’s day-to-day operations, ongoing port development initiatives and engagement with key stakeholders.
His progression from technical and engineering responsibilities to the position of General Manager reflects SPSB’s emphasis on developing leadership capability from within the organisation, while retaining strong institutional and operational knowledge.
Commenting on the appointment, Group Managing Director of Suria Capital Holdings Berhad and Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, Datuk Ahmad Rizal Dahli said Jason brought with him strong operational knowledge, experience and a deep understanding of Sabah Ports.
As Jason’s appointment provides continuity in leadership, he said he is confident that Jason will continue to strengthen the organisation, develop the people and ensure that the Sabah ports remain responsive to the needs of Sabah’s economy and business community.
“As General Manager, Ts. Jason will provide overall leadership across SPSB’s multi-port operations, technical services, commercial activities and corporate initiatives.
“His priorities will include strengthening operational reliability and safety, improving asset performance and service delivery, enhancing organisational capabilities, and identifying opportunities that can create long-term value for SPSB and the State.
“Jason will also continue to strengthen SPSB’s engagement with the Sabah State Government, port authorities, shipping lines, logistics providers, customers and other industry stakeholders to ensure that the development of Sabah’s ports remains aligned with the State’s broader economic and industrial needs,” he said.
With Sabah strategically positioned within the regional maritime and trade landscape, Ahmad Rizal said SPSB will continue to explore opportunities to strengthen connectivity with neighbouring markets, including through the wider BIMP-EAGA economic corridor, while improving the efficiency and reliability of its existing port assets.
