A spike from 181 cases on Thursday, the 261 caseload was also the highest figure recorded since April 1, of which 81 per cent were sporadic infections.
One death was recorded in Kota Kinabalu.
“On Friday, the State Health Department recorded a positivity rate of 15.68 per cent from 2,800 test samples, which was far higher compared to the positivity rate the day before.
“This signifies that transmissions are getting rapid. It is hoped that the public will take heed of this development,” he said in a statement, Friday.
