SAN Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said Wednesday that the city's residents could avail themselves of free cremation services after the completion of a crematorium and columbarium within the San Juan City Cemetery by 2027.
“Once the crematorium is completed, we will be providing free cremation for San Juaneños,” Zamora said in an interview, noting the facility, which includes a chapel, will occupy a 1,000-square-meter area.
Zamora said the project was among the promises he made when he became mayor.
"Hospital expenses, funeral service expenses, if we decide to cremate, that's another expense again," he said.
