Kota Kinabalu: The Magistrate’s Court has transferred the murder case of a 72-year-old senior citizen accused of killing his former fiancée to the High Court.
Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus granted the application after Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronnie Anthony informed the court that sanction had been obtained to transfer the Section 302 Penal Code charge.
Piluta Samad is accused of murdering Hamidah Husin @ Lisa, whose dismembered remains were discovered in a rubbish bin at Taman Indah Permai, Sepanggar, at a house in Kampung Sri Kenangan between 6pm and 7pm on Feb 11.
Defence counsel Datuk Ram Singh, assisted by Joan Goh, Prem Ganasan, and Ian Vun, raised no objection to the prosecution's application.
No plea was taken from the accused as murder falls under High Court jurisdiction, following an earlier psychiatric evaluation at Hospital Mesra Bukit Padang confirming he was fit to plead and stand trial.
