KUNAK: More than 60 potholes have been detected along a 300-metre stretch of Jalan Kampung Kadazan 1 and 2, a key route for villagers in the area.
Once a fully paved road, the route has deteriorated severely, with large potholes making it difficult for light vehicles, including four-wheel drives, to pass through.
The worsening road condition is attributed to heavy vehicles' frequent use of the route, including lorries transporting palm oil fruit to a nearby weighing centre.
The Kunak District Council has identified the affected area, which falls under a government maintenance concession, and has contacted the concessionaire for repairs.
Initial repairs are set to begin before the Aidilfitri celebrations, with works commencing after ongoing road repairs at Jalan Jaya Baru near the township's tamu ground are completed.
