SANDAKAN: Police have arrested a man suspected of operating an unlicensed moneylending business at the bus terminal.
District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the arrest was made during “Op Vulture” at 1pm on Tuesday.
The suspect was detained under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951, and police seized several items, including borrower cards and cash.
He said the operation reflects the police's continued commitment to combating illegal moneylending, commonly known as “ah long”, in the area.
To avoid scams or threats, the public is urged to seek loans only through registered financial institutions and licensed moneylenders.
