TAWAU: A suspected drug pusher was arrested during a raid at the Kampung Vietnam squatter settlement in Tanjung Batu on Tuesday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the foreigner, in his 30s, was detained around 10.30am following a public tip-off and subsequent intelligence gathering.
“The arrest was made after we received information from the public and conducted surveillance on the suspect’s suspicious activities in the area,” he said, Wednesday.
During the raid, police found seven transparent plastic packets containing 52 grams of crystal substance believed to be syabu, worth an estimated RM5,500, inside the suspect’s bag.
The man also tested positive for drugs and was found to be without valid identification documents to work or reside in Malaysia.
Jasmin said police will continue to intensify anti-drug operations and urged the public to report any suspicious activities in their communities.
