
Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man pleaded not guilty to taking syabu.
Norazlan Noormin made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, when the charge against him was read to him on Monday.
He is accused of taking the drug at the Tuaran Police Station on Jan 16, this year.
The offence under Section 15(1)(A) Dangerous Drug Act and punishable under Section 39C(1)(2) of the same Act carries a jail term of between five and seven years and whipping of not more than three strokes, on conviction.
During the proceedings, the Court was informed that the chemist’s report was not ready.
The Court set May 19, this year for pre-trial case management. Norazlan was ordered remanded further pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis appeared for the prosecution while Norazlan was not represented.
