MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Marikina Rep. Marcy Teodoro on Tuesday said his enemies want the cases against him to linger and questioned why a different state prosecutor signed the Department of Justice resolution.
In a statement sent to The Manila Times, Teodoro’s legal counsel, lawyer Alma Mallonga, said Teodoro welcomed the opportunity to face the complaints in court, saying his enemies want the allegations to continue so “slander and uncertainty” would persist.
“The reality is that many enemies want this to be the case,” Mallonga said.
She maintained that Teodoro was innocent and ready to undergo the legal process to establish the truth.
Mallonga also said the DOJ panel that investigated the complaints had completed its work more than seven months ago, but the resolution was prepared and signed by another state prosecutor.
She claimed the panel’s original recommendation to dismiss the complaints may have been changed.
“Cong. Marcy is innocent,” Mallonga said.
