MANILA, Philippines — Newly-minted Three-Point king Jerrick Ahanmisi put on a shooting clinic in the third canto to lead Terrafirma to a lopsided 112-82 shellacking of Titan Ultra, kicking its PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup campaign on high gear Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Ahanmisi dropped 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting to help the Dyip outscore the Giant Risers, 37-22 en route to pulling away for good.
Terrafirma led by as many as 33 points on the way to posting the biggest win in franchise history.
Import Ali Mubashar logged in 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Dyip, while Ahanmisi finished with 26, seven assists and five steals.
Joseph Eriobu added 17 and seven boards while Paolo Hernandez chipped in 15 for Terrafirma, which played without its two best performers in the Philippine Cup— Mark Nonoy and Louie Sangalang.
Nonoy is reportedly AWOL (absent without leave, while Sangalang is also out for a still undetermined period of time.
Top rookie pick Geo Chiu missed all his five attempts in his PBA debut but managed to make six of his 10 free throws, while pulling down 14 rebounds.
Import Michael Gilmore and Joshua Munzon led Titan Ultra with 33 and 32 points, respectively but they failed to get the needed local support, leading to a losing debut for new coach Renzy Bajar.
Titan Ultra played its first game in the post-Calvin Abueva era, having traded the flamboyant forward to Converge for King Caralipio, Rey Suerte and Mark Omega.
