
Kota Kinabalu: Two women were charged, Friday, for using forged documents as genuine.
Erdawaty Zulkarnain, 40, and Nor In Faruk, 55, who were brought before Court Registrar Rita Kunsoi, were accused of committing the offence between 11am and 11.30 am on October 5 at the National Registration Department (NRD) at the Sabah Federal Government Administrative Complex (KPKPS).
Erdawaty and Nor In are alleged to have fraudulently used forged documents, including a child’s health card, prenatal card of mother and child and maternal health record book as genuine.
The offence under Section 471 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 465 of the same Act carried a jail term of up to two years or a fine or both, upon conviction. However, no plea was taken from Erdawaty and Nor In.

In mitigation, duty counsel Carmen Khoo, representing Erdawaty, pleaded for a lower bail amount as Erdawaty has six children and is a housewife.
For Nor In, duty counsel Lim Ming Zhoong @ Lawrence also applied for a lower bail amount as she has nine children and works as a cleaner.
Rita fixed Oct 16 for Erdawaty and Oct 19 for Nor In to enter their pleas before a Magistrate. Rita released them on bail of RM1,000 each with two sureties.
