Vice Ganda to host PH Eurovision selections

Broadcaster ABS-CBN announced that actor and TV host Vice Ganda will host the country’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest Asia later this month.

The announcement was made by songwriter-record producer Jonathan Manalo during an exclusive listening session at the network’s headquarters in Quezon City. Many of the entrants and their composers appeared with Manalo.

“Pili Pinas: Philippine Selection Night 2026” will be at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City on Aug. 30, at 9:45 p.m. It will be shown on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Myx Digital, TFC international channels, A2Z, AllTV, iWant, and the official channel of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Full versions of the 10 songs were revealed and made into a digital album. The 10 are as follows: “Between Bituin,” performed by DNA, composed by Jungee Marcelo; “Broken Beyond Repair,” performed by Saga, composed by Angelo Gonzales; “Cheri(e),” performed by Elha Nympha, Esang de Torres, Lance Reblando and Nar Cabico, composed by Nar Cabico; “Di Yan (Red Flag),” performed by Jason Dy and Sassa Dagdag, composed by Jason Marvin Hernandez; “Good for You,” performed by Ryssi Avila, composed by Hazel Faith; “Make it Exist,” performed by AJAA, composed by Angelo Calvin; “Mapadama,” performed by JMielle, composed by Jungee Marcelo and Jeremy Glinoga; “Reason to Live,” performed by Khimo, composed by Stephen Tan; “Round ’n’ Round,” performed by VVink and Wrive Russu, composed by Julius James de Belen and John Michael Conchada; and “Sobra-Sobra,” performed by Carmelle Collado, composed by Nica del Rosario and Mat Olavides.

JMielle and Dy previously faced off on the fourth season of “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” while Nympha, de Torres, and Collado are part of the New Gen Divas of the Sunday variety show “ASAP XP.” The Philippines is among 11 countries taking part in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, which is set to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on Nov. 14. Mongolia will pick their singer on Oct. 10.

Meanwhile, outside the Philippines, Malaysia revealed its entrant on Saturday night, with Aina Abdul being the second entrant. Thailand also showed 10 artists for Thailand’s Chosen One, their national selection.
