KOTA MARUDU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has reaffirmed the State Government and Yayasan Sabah Group’s (KYS) commitment to strengthening education, socio-economic growth and environmental sustainability for the benefit of the people.
He said the government gives serious attention to human capital development, ensuring no group is left behind in gaining access to quality education, while continuously supporting programmes that improve community well-being and protect the environment.
Hajiji, who is also Yayasan Sabah Board of Trustees Chairman, said the group remains committed to its mission of improving the quality of life of Malaysians in Sabah through education, welfare services and human capital development.
“The State Government values KYS’ commitment to enhancing education, developing socio-economic opportunities and preserving the environment.
“These efforts are vital in ensuring that our people progress together towards a more resilient and prosperous Sabah,” he said when officiating the North West Coast Zone leg of the Jerayawara Yayasan Sabah Bersama Rakyat (YSBR) 2025 programme at Padang Komuniti Kota Marudu, Saturday.
The YSBR programme is part of KYS’ ongoing statewide initiative to reach out to the people and highlight its contributions in education, socio-economic development and environmental conservation. The event also featured exhibitions, welfare assistance presentations and activities involving local communities.
His speech text was read by Community Development and People’s Well-being Minister Datuk James Ratib.
Also present were Pitas Assemblyman cum Assistant Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dato’ Sri Dr Ruddy Awah and other invited guests.
Hajiji said education remains the key driver of transformation, noting that many Sabahans who benefited from KYS’ education programmes have gone on to become professionals, administrators and community leaders contributing to the State’s progress.
He also commended KYS’ efforts in improving socio-economic conditions in rural areas through entrepreneurship and community development programmes that help narrow the urban-rural income gap.
On sustainability, he praised the group’s initiatives in forest conservation, research and collaboration with international and local partners, saying such efforts ensure balanced and responsible development for future generations.
“The group’s commercial arm, Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd (ICSB), has also shown that commercial performance and social responsibility can move together, with profits channelled back to education, welfare and community development,” he said.
He expressed confidence that KYS will continue to strengthen its role in driving human capital growth, socio-economic progress and environmental sustainability in line with Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan.
