Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases rose to 313 on Wednesday from 251 the day earlier as sporadic infections jumped to 64.22 per cent, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“This means Covid-19 transmissions within the community are increasing. Once again the public are reminded to abide by all standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially in congested areas,” he said, Wednesday.
Masidi said the rise in cases is also due to a higher number of districts recording increased cases.
“A total of 14 districts recorded a rise, topped by Kota Kinabalu (104) which recorded an increase of 40 cases. Decreases in certain districts were only marginal. Telupid, Tongod and Nabawan did not record any new cases,” he added.
One death was recorded in Tuaran, while no new clusters were identified.
Masidi said the majority of cases are mild, with 305 out of 313 being category one and two infections. Two are in category three and three each in category four and five.
Some 811 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 352 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 5,239 individuals were vaccinated on March 29, of which 4,777 were adults while 77 were teenagers and 385 were children.
As of March 29, he said a total of 2,407,051 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.94 per cent were adults, while 2,560,858 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.50 per cent were adults.
Masidi added that a total of 332,460 teenagers have received their first dose, while 316,816 have completed both doses, which is 74.34 per cent of the teenage population. A total of 95,771 children have received their first dose.
