Ateneo prepares to bring home Adili to familyin Nigeria

MANILA, Philippines — The Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday said preparations were underway to bring home the remains of the late Blue Eagles cager Divine Adili to Nigeria, his home country.

In a statement on Saturday, the university said it was "part of the University's continuing commitment to Divine Adili and his family."

"Preparations are underway for the repatriation of Divine's remains to Nigeria, where he will be laid to rest in accordance with his family's wishes," the university said.

Two Ateneo representatives will accompany Adili on his final journey.

"One of them, Fr Munching de Guzman SJ, has begun the necessary preparations for travel, including obtaining the required vaccinations and medications for entry into Nigeria," Ateneo said.

"While documentary and travel arrangements are still being finalized in coordination with Divine's family and the relevant authorities, preparations continue to ensure that Divine's return home is carried out with dignity, care, and respect," it added.

Adili and teammate Rene Baterbonia died on June 8, while in a training session in Aurora.
