Converge ends 4-game skid, routs Terrafirma

MANILA, Philippines — Converge drew the needed emotional lift from come backing PBA import Cameron Clark as the FiberXers rolled past the Terrafirma Dyip, 120-103 to end their four-game losing skid in Season 50 Governors Cup on Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Clark, coming in as the team’s third import after Jalen Hudson and Jamal Franklin, finished with 22 points as he teamed up with Justin Arana and Calvin Abueva to help Converge clinch its fourth win in eight starts.

The win revived the FiberXers’ playoff drive following an alarming four-game skid since opening the conference with three consecutive wins.

Terrafirma fell to 3-5.

Arana finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while  Abueva had 17 and 11 for Converge.

Juan Gomez de Liano had an all-around effort of 13 points, six rebounds and eight assists.

“We talked with the players and we really needed to regroup and get our focus back,” said Converge head coach Delta Pined in Filipino.  Justin Strings led the Dyip with 28 points and 11 rebounds, Juami Tiongson added 21.
